The PNG Digital Transformation Summit 2025 (DTS25) is Papua New Guinea’s premier gathering for technology, innovation and digital policy. Hosted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the four‑day summit will run from 24–27 November 2025 at the Stanley Hotel & Suites, Port Moresby. It brings together government leaders, industry experts, academics, start‑ups and students to share insights on digital identity, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure and emerging technologies. Event Highlights and Focus Areas

The four-day summit’s program is packed with panels, demonstrations and interactive events designed to inspire and educate participants.

 

  • Opening ceremonies and keynote speakers: The first day will feature high‑level addresses such as the National Anthem and opening prayer, welcome remarks by DICT Secretary Mr Steven Matainaho, an opening address by Acting ICT Minister Hon. Peter Tsiamalili Jr., and a keynote by Prime Minister Hon. James Marape.

 

  • Launch of Digital Government Services: A dedicated launch segment on Day 1 will showcase digital government services with a live demonstration of the SevisPass and e‑Recruitment system.

 

  • Detailed session themes:

 

  • Governing a digital nation and building a resilient digital infrastructure sessions will explore policy, regulation and critical infrastructure resilience.
  • The National Cyber Resilience Framework discussion will examine establishing national and sector CERT capabilities.
  • Cloud/Data Centre Hosting Innovations will gather domestic and international providers, including AWS, Oracle, Alibaba and local firms, to discuss cloud adoption and data sovereignty.
  • A session on Digital Public Infrastructure will show how digital identity, payments and data exchange drive economic growth.

 

  • Plenary and breakout sessions on Day 2: The program features plenary talks on AI for governance and service delivery (Oracle Cloud), the Google Pacific Cable and Starlink projects. Breakouts cover AI use cases (e‑recruitment, visa processing), research showcases from UniTech, DWU, WPU and UPNG, digital government standards and compliance, digital ID and interoperability demonstrations featuring SevisPass and financial‑inclusion use cases, a GovCloud overview, digital signatures for whole‑of‑government, a vice chancellor roundtable and a closed session for development partners.

 

  • FutureGen Inclusion & Immersion (Day 3): A youth‑focused day will include a Call of Duty Mobile gaming competition, coding sessions, digital‑skills and cyber‑safety workshops, and talks by PNG content creators. Further sessions cover spectrum management and 5G deployment, combating cybercrime and public-sector branding.

 

  • Day 4 commitments: The final day focuses on partnership announcements, including MoU signings, showcases of hackathon and gaming competition winners, a roundtable on implementation pathways and commitments, and a closing address.

 

Expected outcomes and broader goals: The concept note emphasises capacity building for Digital Transformation Officers, stronger policy frameworks, adoption of national digital platforms, expanded innovation ecosystems and reinforced regional leadership.
