Women’s netball team winner Papua New Guinea Division 5 champions
Celebrating sporting excellence
Netball is one of Papua New Guinea’s most popular sports, with over 10,000 registered players and a large support base around Port Moresby. The Papua New Guinea Netball Federation has promoted women’s netball since the 1960s; the women’s national team has even been ranked 17th in the world. Against this backdrop, Stream Tech Knowledge’s Netball Team 1 achieved a remarkable feat in 2025: winning both the Division 5 Minor Premiership and the Grand Final of the Women’s Netball League.
Journey to the semi-finals
Throughout the season, Stream Tech’s women’s netball team displayed resilience and teamwork. Their focus on training and performance weekly are supported by Stream Tech’s founders, Andy and Hanan Obeidi.
Hanan, CFO and COO of Stream Tech supports the team through sponsorship of uniforms, merchandise, food, and drinks, while also bringing energy courtside, boosting morale and cheering the players on as their Netball Team 1 secured their spot in the finals.
Both Andy and Hanan, together with Stream Tech staff, family, and friends, have been proud supporters of two women’s netball team for several years, and to watching the team’s journey into the final league was a proud moment they will remember. Their netball players, many of whom are Stream Tech current and former employees, successfully balanced their work commitments with weekly training and community outreach, demonstrating the team’s dedication both on and off the court.
Grand final triumph
In the Grand Final, Stream Tech’s Netball Team 1 demonstrated tactical excellence, winning the match with disciplined defence and creative attacking play. The victory marks the first time a technology company’s team has claimed both titles in a single season, and Stream Tech’s Netball Team’s consecutive win from last year only reinforces Stream Tech’s reputation as a company that champions netball team culture, leadership, and national development with an inclusion and diversity mindset.
Empowering women and community
Stream Tech’s support of netball goes beyond trophies. PNG’s netball community faces challenges such as lack of infrastructure and irregular competitions. Through sponsorship and volunteering, Stream Tech helps local clubs access equipment, coaching and leadership programs. By investing in sport, the company empowers women to develop skills, confidence and a healthy lifestyle, aligning with its mission to cultivate talent in both technology and sport.
